So now, lets talk about drugs and all the things nobody wants to talk about this

Welcome to this informative-personal blog that aims to provide information about drug use, this in the most biased way possible. This is a space where we hope people and above all young people feel safe to share their experiences and doubts about the subject in order to raise awareness and prepare the new generations.

How was my first aproach to this?

Usually, the first approach to this world is generated in high school, when everyone is trying new things and nobody really cares about this, and, an exact case of what we say can be seen when the only approach they give us to the world of drugs is that which warns us and fears how much our life could be ruined if we came to accept this.

That’s how, from a very young age, this topic begins to become taboo because, if nobody wants to talk about this and when they do, all they say are bad things, we begin to fear and want to get into this on our own, because, curiosity is something quite normal in anyone and, although everyone says otherwise, like sex, recreational drugs are something undeniable to omit and in many cases we may not want to enter, do not like or do not care, just as it may be the opposite, that we like it very much and fear to continue or leave it, which can be avoided if you have a good education in this.

However, our curiosity went beyond the biased training given by educational institutions but , by our own, we began to investigate initiatives and programs related to this issue such as "Echele cabeza", which from social networks are responsible for providing education on drugs in a more partial way and without stigmas.

How does this topic impact my life?

This issue has directly impacted my life because, throughout my adolescence, I have been able to witness complicated and difficult situations as a result of misinformation about drugs. In my case, I went to a party where I was fortunate enough to help a girl who was tricked by some men into taking a dangerous dose of ecstasy in order to render her unconscious so they could abuse her. Situations like this have been seen a lot and can be avoided by teaching young people how to consume responsibly. Likewise, I have seen at parties many ill-traveled people who faint or have psychotic attacks for not knowing the necessary things to take the drug they consumed.

Finally, the biggest impact that I have had recently is to see how the school where I graduated is being victim of a problem of acid consumption by children of 12 years and older that I know firsthand that they do not have the education or training necessary to lead a safe consumption.

So, how could this information impact others positively?

I think that through earlier awareness in the lives of adolescents on this subject could avoid bad decisions and the fear of trying new things which is something innate in our humanity. In this way, through talks, real cases, (not only of drug addicts and extreme cases) but of medicinal uses of drugs, the use of recreational drugs and others that can be generated in daily life, would be a good first step for everyone.

So, to generate a positive impact on Colombian society, I propose that more attention and importance be given to programs such as "Echele cabeza" that are present at events, parties and places where drug use is high. We believe that it is important to educate people from an early age in a partial way, to talk about drugs without lies and showing all the information about them in a correct way, not to fall into moralism and to prevent young people from having responsible consumption. Likewise, education should also be imparted from home so parents and elders should also be educated.

Now, some tricks, tips, suggestions and clarifications that could definitely save you or someone else:

1.
Do not accept things at parties, it is better to bring your own substances and try them first. 2. Start with small doses and do not mix with alcohol or other substances. 3. Drink plenty of water before, during and after. To avoid dehydration.
4. Being in a favorable emotional state. 5. When using inhaled substances such as Tussi, cocaina, etc. Do not use keys, bills and do not share shovels or spoons to prevent disease. 6. After the feast, wash the nostrils with physiological serum. 7.Buy hides in reputable stores and do not use things like biblical paper, chocolate papers, etc., to roll marijuana or tobacco.

Overdose Prevention and Breathing Rescue in 20 minutes or less

1. What causes an overdose?

• Toxic amount: is too much of the substance; to prevent an overdose, inject a small amount of the substance to test potency.
• Mixtures: when combining substances the effects are amplified; to prevent them first inject a small amount of the substance to test its potency. Inject the substance first if you plan to drink alcohol.
• Tolerance: Tolerance decreases when you stop using the substance for a period of time. (e.g. incarceration, lack of money to get the substance). To prevent a possible overdose, inject a small amount to test its potency.
• Quality: the quality of the substance varies in potency and purity; to prevent a possible overdose try to use a known source and inject a small amount to test its potency.
• Use it alone: if something bad happens and no one can help. To avoid this possible danger, try to be with someone you trust, do not lock the door.

2. How to recognize an overdose?

• Over-intensifying: stimulants (cocaine/accelerants) causes the body to accelerate.
• Signs of overdose: unresponsive, unconscious, slow breathing (less than 12 breaths per minute); pale, sweaty, blue/gray skin color (esp. lips and nails); loud snoring and uneven gurgling; no breathing; fainting and no pulse.
•Under the effects of drug vs overdose: "The line" =  NOT RESPONDING

• Overdose: heroin and other tranquilizers (alcohol/tranquilizers) makes the body slow.

3. What to do if an overdose occurs?

• Stimulation: speak to him or her by name, rub the sternum.

• Call 911- Good Samaritan Law 911: protects against subpoena or arrest, except if another law is being violated.

• No need to say: it’s an overdose, give a name or if the drugs were involved.

• Tell paramedics everything they know about the situation when they arrive.

Calm the scene (or go to a quiet area), be calm and speak clearly, and not discuss.

•Give exact address/location, say if the person does not breathe or turns blue.

Breathing Rescue Instructions If a person overdoses and does not breathe:

1) Check the responsiveness. Ask, "Are you okay?" Shake your foot, use friction on the breastbone.

2) Put the person face up on a flat, firm surface.

3) Check to see if the person is breathing; putting your cheek next to your nose to:

a. Look - see if your chest is rising.

b. Listen - can you hear the breath?

c. Feel - your breath on the cheek.

4) Tilt her or his head back using your hand and carefully push her or his forehead back and chin up. (This extends the airways as much as possible) - but be careful not to extend the neck too much!

5) Repeat step 3 - Look, Listen and Feel.

6) If the person isn't breathing, look in her or his mouth and airways to see if an object is blocking the breathing. If there is any object remove it, sliding two curved fingers.

7) Repeat step 3 - Look, Listen and Feel.

8) Press the person’s nose with your fingers to close it. Create a seal around the person’s mouth with your lips. Exhale a normal breath into your lungs. If you need a barrier, you can use a clean cloth, such as the end of a shirt.

9) After providing 2 breaths, repeat step 3 (Look, Listen, and Feel) to reevaluate the person.

10) Take a normal breath and allow 5 seconds between breaths.

a. If the person isn't breathing - continue breathing for them

until help arrives.

b. If they start breathing - put them in the recovery position

and keep seeing them.

REMEMBER! A long time without oxygen can result in brain injury or death.

It is not recommended to leave someone alone if is overdosing. Wait for 911! However, if for some reason a person over-dosing is left unattended, it is important to leave them in the recovery position! The person is less likely to drown if they vomit. This position makes it easier to breathe, not when the person is lying on their back.

A. Place the person on his or her back. Place the right hand next to the head.
B. Place your left hand on your right cheek using "pillow" Lift your left leg up.
C. Hold the left shoulder and left leg with your hands. Turn the person toward you.
D. The person will rest on his side. Move his head slightly back

Strange Myths about  Overdose - These do not work and can be harmful

    • Slap or punch: may cause bruising or a broken nose/jaw.
    • Putting in cold water or using ice: makes the body cold, even slower, and can lead to hypothermia.
    • Use a light cable to give electric shocks: may cause burns, irregular heartbeat or death.
    • Inject milk/water with salt or other substances: may cause the body to go into shock.

SUBSTANCE ANALYSIS SERVICE S.A.S

S.A.S is a complementary strategy to the information stand focused on risk reduction and damage mitigation. The service uses physical - chemical tests and analysis to identify:

  • The presence or absence of a particular substance.
  • The amount of this substance within the sample.
  •  The presence of other substances such as adulterants or supplanters.

The input provided through these analyses is intended to provide more accurate information to users immediately, as well as generate a useful long-term information system for a population consuming psychoactive substances in general.

Because education is necessary, More content of "échele cabeza"

Now, what about you?

I’d like to know your opinions and thoughts on this, how your adventures were and if you don’t have any, why don’t you try having some new experiences using drugs in a responsible way. Just remember that using them is not a sin to the extent that you use them responsibly and in a safe environment. See you and I hope that this random stuff can save you at some point!

  1. This is definitely an important topic and issue to discuss. It is imperative to educate people, and especially teenagers, about the mental and physical consequences of unresponsible drug use.
In my case, I have never had any experience with drugs, and I won't have in the future. I find them pointless and dangerous to my general well-being

  2. I don't really understand why we don't talk about this topic more deeply in our schools, we should make everyone aware of the real effects and problems of using drugs and also all the positive sides of view that they have in other countries.

  4. I think people must be educated in this matter in an adecuate way considering that prohibition is not a solution and that people who use these suntances are not bad people when they do it in a reacretive or experimental way

  5. I really liked this topic because I think that it is important to educate people in topics that are hard to deal with, but just because they are a little bit akward or hard topics they shouldn't be left aside, we can't turn a blind eye and ignore that most of people have had experiences with drugs, so the best thing would be educate them on ways to do it safely and the side effects it can had.
